Description
SR9009 (Stenabolic) is a synthetic ligand for the nuclear receptors Rev-Erbα and Rev-Erbβ, which acts as a transcriptional repressor of target genes involved in circadian regulation, mitochondrial biogenesis, and lipid/glucose metabolism. By activating Rev-Erb, SR9009 enhances oxidative phosphorylation, increases basal metabolism, and suppresses lipogenesis by downregulating genes such as BMAL1 and SREBP-1c. It has low oral bioavailability and undergoes rapid hepatic metabolism, requiring parenteral administration in experimental models.
